1.A Little Hare Named Pip
Once upon a time, in a field of soft green grass, lived a little hare named Pip. Pip had long, twitchy ears and a fluffy white tail that bobbed whenever he hopped through the meadow.
One night, Pip looked up at the sky and saw something big and round and shiny. 'What is that?' he wondered. It was the moon, big and bright, looking just like a giant bowl of milk!
Pip decided he wanted to touch the big, bright moon. He hopped and he hopped, his little legs going thump-thump-thump over the dewy grass as he chased the light.
He hopped past sleepy flowers that bowed their heads in the moonlight. The field was quiet, and Pip’s heart beat fast with excitement.
Pip hopped under the rustling leaves of the big trees at the edge of the woods. The moon seemed so far away, always just a little bit higher in the sky.
Pip stopped and sighed. No matter how high he hopped, he couldn't reach the moon. He felt a little bit sad as he looked at his small paws.
Then, a wise old owl, perched on a branch, hooted softly. 'Hoo-hoo, little Pip. The moon is too high to touch. But it shines for you, and it watches over you while you sleep.'
Pip looked at the moon again. It was still big and bright, and it made the grass sparkle like diamonds. He realized the owl was right; the moon was a friend.
Pip yawned a big hare yawn. He felt very tired from all his hopping. It was time to find his warm bed near the old tree root.
Pip snuggled down into his cozy burrow. The big, bright moon shone down with a gentle, friendly light. Pip closed his eyes, feeling safe and warm, and dreamed sweet dreams.
